POCM Vision

 This is an excerpt from POCM Newsletter in 2009

For those who have read the book “living under the volcano”, you may remember that when we first came to this area of Subic, the Lord led us to the 3 storey hospital building that sits at the top of a hill. When I first asked the owner, Mr. Baltao Sr. how much he was selling the building for, he told me he was asking $50,000,000!!! The moment he heard that I had no money, he referred me to the school building that we are now occupying for POCCA (POC Christian Academy), and he gave us the use of that building. He told me to prove what I could do with the small building, before he would discuss the possibility of the hospital building.

With that, we moved our ministry into Baltao Subdivision, where we are located to this day. The Lord gave me those familiar verses from Habakkuk 2:2-3 (New King James Version)

  Then the LORD answered me and said:
      “ Write the vision
      And make it plain on tablets,
      That he may run who reads it.
      For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
      But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
      Though it tarries, wait for it;
      Because it will surely come,
      It will not tarry.

Twenty Three years have past since then, and I had to watch the building fall into ruin. Whilst I treasured the promise in my heart, I have to admit it seemed more and more impossible to ever enter the reality of it. Mr. Baltao Sr. died in 1995 and just before he died he asked me if I would turn the hospital into a college as a joint business venture, but I told him that I had left my own country to come to the Philippines to help and not to earn money. I told him that if the college was non-profit, I was all for it. When Mr. Baltao Senior passed away his son, Gary Baltao took over his father's assets.

Gary has been following the progress of POC over the years. He even visited the New Girl’s home building a year or so ago, and I never knew it. When Gary came to see me a few months ago he asked me, if I was still interested in the hospital. I responded with a half hearted, “Yes”. He said, “I’ll tell you what, I will put it to the board that you can buy the land and we will give you the building!!” I told him that I didn’t have money. He answered, “I know, but God will provide, if you believe. I don’t believe but I know you do!!”

Twenty three years ago I recorded the vision and I watched Pinatubo, typhoons and earthquakes try to destroy it. It’s good that God told us to inscribe the vision and not just write with pen and ink!!! Who knows if this is now the appointed time? I was only praying the other day as I was reading the story of Moses, that the Lord would do miracles for us, so that others will come to know that our God is real. The girls’ house building has been a tremendous testimony, how much more the hospital!! Though it tarries, wait for it for it will surely come…….

The vision for the hospital building has been revived and the need is greater now than ever, as there are children being turned away who are in need of a home and education. If this building is bought and renovated, the total cost of the reconstruction would be £500,000. A drop in the ocean compared to the $50,000,000 being asked by Mr. Baltao Sr. 23 years ago!!! We know and Believe that nothing is impossible for God! And He is able to provide every penny needed to complete the vision. All it would take, is for 500 people to donate £1000! Our God is able!!

Please stand with us to believe for the vision to be completed. We need your prayers.

God Bless,
