Children's Homes

Children's Home

This was part of the original vision - to reach out to children in need, especially to those who were living in the jails with their parent(s).

One day, whilst ministering in the jail, God spoke to Chrissy saying "Now is the time to take the children." She tried to reason that she had no facility and no workers to which He responded, "Look around you". As she looked around and saw rapists, paedophiles, murderers, prostitutes, homosexuals, etc. she realised that no situation could be worse for the children - no matter how bad the facility. That very day the police escorted the children to POC and the children's home began.

Over the years the children's home grew, and divided into 2 seperate homes - a boys' and a girls'.

Boy’s Home

The House Parents of the boys house are 2 Filipino couples Jovy and Gerry & Thelma and Lito. The boys in the home are from various backgrounds. Some are children of ex-prisoners, some are children of current inmates (one parent is even on death row), some are from the streets, and others are children whose parents could not afford to feed them.

The boys' home facility is owned by POC. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard, and provides a comfortable and stable environment for 25 or more children.

Girl's Home

Edgar and Dorie are the current houseparents at the girl’s house. They have 5 children of their own and still have such a great love for the 30+ girls they look after everyday. Edgar and Dorie came to POC through Edgar’s uncle, Pastor Jimmy Abarca, who pastors POCF Roosevelt.

The girls also come from similar backgrounds to the boys. POC has just recently, in the last 2 years, built a brand new Home for the Girls through the help and donations of our supporters. We currently have about 32 girls in our homes and studying at POCCA.

SCD (Special Care department) and Baby Unit

The New girls house also accommodates our SCD and Baby Unit for disabled and special needs children. We have a number of Care-givers overseeing this unit which currently houses 11 children.

The old girls house is being renovated so that it can provide a half-way home for older boys, where they will learn to adjust to life outside POC. They will experience getting a job and paying a regular amount each month for bills and food etc...
